Comprehension Objectives/Indicators of Mastery
  • Oral language/fluency:  Students will articulate a complete oral sentence with appropriate phrasing, expression, volume, and speed using a targeted tier 2 word from the text.
  • Vocabulary:  Students will make accurate use of targeted tier two words.
  • Making connections:  Students will make oral text-to-self and text-to-text connections when prompted by the teacher.
  • Predictions:  Students will make a prediction about what might happen next in a story, giving a reason for their predictions.
  • Responding:  Students will identify one detail from a story that supports a conclusion. 

 

  • Comprehension/Retelling:  Students will place three events from a story in sequence based on knowledge of beginning, middle and end.
  • Retelling:  Students will identify the problem, characters, and setting in a story.

 
 

Phonological Awareness/Phonics Objectives/Indicators of Mastery
  • Rhyming: Students will identify and produce words that rhyme.
  • Syllables: Students will clap, count and blend syllables.
  • Sounds: Students will identify initial and some ending sounds in words. 
  • Phonics: Students will be able to identify and write their name;  Students will identify upper and lowercase as well as letter sounds for these target letters: b, m, r, s, t, g, n, p and the vowels a, i
  • High Frequency Words: Students will recognize and read these 5 sight words:  I, is, the, a, me
  • Alphabetic Principle:  Students will demonstrate and understand the relationship between letters and sounds by matching the sounds (phonemes) to letters (graphemes):  b, m, r, s, t, g, n, p

  • Oral language/fluency:  Students will memorize one poem, song, or rhyme and will repeat it aloud with classmates with appropriate phrasing, expression, volume, and speed.

  • Planning:  Students will willing participate in the writing lesson and articulate ideas for a piece.
  • Drafting:  Students will focus on the task in order to get ideas down on paper.
  • Revising/Editing:  Students will willingly add more details when prompted.
  • Reflecting:  Students will willingly talk about their writing piece during a writing conference.
