THE INAUGURAL FALL CLASS
The following will be recognize as the fall sports first ballot inductees March 24th. Winter and spring sport inductees will be announced in the next two years.
*Albie Booth (football): This quarterback from the late 1920s-early1930s weighed only 125 pounds at Hillhouse. His field goal beat a West Haven team led by Ken Strong 3-0. Booth was an ever bigger star at Yale and later was a prominent referee.
*Chick Bowen (football): He is arguably the greatest football coach in Hillhouse history. Bowen Field is named for him.
*Steve Byrd (soccer): This all-stater from the late 1960s played professionally.
*Tamu Cooper (volleyball): She excelled at Hillhouse, at the college level, and later at the professional level.
*John Daniels (football): This late 1950s running back was an all-stater at Hillhouse and a starter at Villanova. He later became a prominent businessman and state senator. He also became a college referee and the first African-American mayor of New Haven.
*Charlie Derbabian (contributor): He graduated from Hillhouse during World War II and has been supporting all athletic programs ever since.
*Len Fasano, M.D. (football): Despite his small stature, this late 1940s offensive lineman made all-state and also played at Yale. He later became a physician widely respected throughout the greater New Haven area.
*Veron Hargreaves (football): An all-state linebacker at Hillhouse during the late 1970s, hi is a member of the UConn all-century team. He recently coached at the University of Miami.
*Levi Jackson (football): This all-state running back from the late 1940s starred for Yale and served as football captain. He later became a vice president of the Ford Motor Company.
*Joe Johnson (football): This two time-all state running back from the mid-1940s starred at Boston College and went on to play in the NFL.
*Floyd Little (football): This all-state running back from the early 1960s excelled for Syracuse University and later for the Denver Broncos. He was chosen captain of the Broncos as a rookie.
*Frankie Williams (multi-sport): An all-state running back in the early 1950s, he also excelled in basketball and in track.
*The 1931-32 football team (team): Many consider this Hillhouse's greatest team ever.
