Summer Freshmen Transition Program
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Varying Locations – Wilbur Cross HS, Hillhouse HS, and Co-op HS
The purpose of this program is to allow students entering into the 9th grade in fall 2013 to reinforce the skills needed to be successful in algebra 1 and English 1 (The focus of the program will be on the first 4-weeks of instruction in algebra 1 and English 1). This is a non-credit enrichment and remedial program (students will be identified based on their 8th grade math and literacy data for placement into an enrichment or remedial program).
Three separate sites will be used for the freshman transition program. Since Hillhouse and Wilbur Cross have large numbers of freshman and unique challenges with their transition to high school, they will have their own programs. All students attending a magnet school will attend one central program, which will be held at Cooperative Arts & Humanities high School. Applications are below and acceptance into the program is on a first come, first served basis.
