**NURSING CAREER PATHWAYS -- YALE NEW HAVEN HOSPITAL, GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, ADULT EDUCATION (CNA COURSE)
For high school students wishing to prepare for a career in nursing.  Provides internships, CNA course, tutoring, part-time employment, and assistance in enrolling in college.  Some college cost reimbursement is available.

**EMT/FIRE CADET PROGRAM
              Collaboration between NH Board of Education and NH Fire Department.  Provides high school students with EMT course, fire department mentors, state exam eligibility (if course is passed).  Intent is to prepare students for careers in fire services.

**NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR TEACHING ENTREPRENEURSHIP (NFTE)

**UNITED SHORELINE CREDIT UNION PARTNERSHIP

**SMALL BUSINESS LEARNING CENTER PARTNERSHIP (GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE COLLABORATION {IN DEVELOPMENT})

**CAREER ADVENTURES CAMP – Summer Bridge Program for Incoming 9th Graders
              Summer camp focuses on technology, literacy (writing, oral), entrepreneurship (NFTE), and real world applications through the use of “The Real Game”.  Operates for 5 weeks at Hillhouse High School, open to incoming 9th grade students.

**ACE MENTORING PROGRAM (Architecture, Construction & Engineering)
              Program offered to high school students interested in careers in architecture, construction or engineering.  Activities include hands-on, year-end construction projects, student presentations, scholarship availability and the annual breakfast.  Students are divided into teams and bi-monthly meetings are held in the offices of local firms, which also provide staff who serve as team leaders.  Local ACE contact -sbartkus@dewberry.com for information about the New Haven chapter. 
 
**NEXT GENERATION CAREERS – KEYS TO THE FUTURE
              Middle school project focusing on career exploration in Allied Health and Advanced Manufacturing opportunities.  Partnership with Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of Workforce Competitiveness, Area Health Education Centers, CT Business & Industry Association, CT Department of Education, Ct Community Colleges, CT Department of Labor, and local school districts.  Teams explore various careers, review academic requirements, use outside resources and come up with career development activities and other implementation strategies for middle school students.  Contact Mary Ann O’Brien at maryann.o’brien@new-haven.k12.ct.us for further information.
**CT CAREER CHOICES (CCC) Statewide alliance of schools districts, Education Connection, Office of Workforce Competitiveness, National Science Foundation, IBM
              Initiative designed to engage CT middle and high school students in a variety of challenging courses to stimulate interest in STEM education.  CCC combines innovative, internet-based curriculum with experiential opportunities, such as the hosting of classroom speakers, company tours, job shadowing and teacher externships.  High school courses include IT R&D, Biotech R&D, E-Commerce and Entrepreneurship.  For each course there is a ‘challenge’ to which student teams respond.  Student teams develop white papers and business plans, trade show booths and materials, and presentations, which are judged at the annual CT Student Innovation Expo.  For further information email - info@educationconnection.org.  New Haven participating schools include Hill Regional Career, Metropolitan, CT Scholars, and W. **ENGINEERING CHALLENGE FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
                Program focuses on exploring technologies and engineering, team building, leadership and technical writing. New Haven students from W. ROTARY CLUB – STUDENT OF THE MONTH
              Each month, the New Haven Rotary Club honors a student of the month.  Students are selected on the basis of grades, attendance, and community involvement.
Scholarships are available through the Rotary Club to eligible individuals.
