New Haven (February 5) — It is with great pride that the Athletics Department of the New Haven Public Schools announces that Coach Larry Kelley has been voted Coach of the Year by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.  Coach Kelley who has led the Career High School Boys Basketball team for 11 years as Head Coach at Career with 21 years of total Coaching at Career will be given the Coach of the Year award at the Association’s 54th Annual Banquet on May 10, 2018 at the AquaTurf Club on Southington.

“Coach Kelley has been a mentor and instructor for a generation of student athletes at Career High School.  He has won many games and titles over the years but I am most grateful for the individual attention and support he has provided hundreds of athletes and thousands of students at Career whose lives he has touched for the better.”  Dr. Reginald Mayo, Superintendent of Schools, New Haven.

“Coach Kelley has been a great coach, role model and mentor.  Not just for the students and athletes who he interacts with directly but also to the many other coaches and staff that he has supported and mentored over the years.  New Haven is blessed to have such a kind and hard working advocate in Coach Kelly.  Congratulations to him on this well deserved recognition from his peer Coaches across the State.”  Erik Patchkofsky, Director of Athletics, New Haven.
